Walnut Grove
Project Overview
In the early 2000’s, Cartersville’s Westend district was hit with rapid both residential and commercial areas, and the dilemma of being the major east/west route for transportation and trucking in south Bartow County. One of the pivot points for the district’s future was the Walnut Grove and West Avenue intersection. Pennant Construction Management represented the private owner in developing the Walnut Grove Development which not only provided commercial outparcels for brands such as Zaxby’s, Coosa Valley Credit Union and Dollar General, but also create a new signaled intersection and bypass route for much of the truck traffic in the area. The project involved the mass grading of the site with the relocation of two main roads, Old Mill Road and Walnut Grove Road. On top of the installation of storm drain, curbing and asphalt street, all utilities servicing west Bartow County were relocated including both Cartersville and Georgia Power Electric, City of Cartersville water, sewer and gas, AT&T and Comcast fiber.
