Floyd County Police Department
Project Overview
The Floyd County Commission and Pennant Construction Management, Inc. were tasked with transforming the former Glenwood School Building (built in 1954) into the new home of the Floyd County Police Department. The renovations began with interior demolition followed by the installation of new electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
The former school building then underwent its interior transition. New offices and work spaces were framed throughout the building to make the site a better fit for the police force. Specific enhancements were also made to particular rooms to increase security and safety measures.
The gymnasium underwent the biggest change as the former stage and platform area was turned into locker rooms for the male and female officers. After the stage was framed, the locker rooms received new flooring, lighting, partitions and fixtures.
On the exterior of the building, new fencing was installed for the squad cars to have a secure parking area. Automatic gates and card readers were included within this upgrade. A new driveway was also poured around the side of the building to provide more parking spaces for the police department.
