ESPORTS Venue and Engineering/Technology lab

Project Overview

The Bartow County School System has never been afraid to dream big. The local school system had a vision of turning an old auditorium at the College and Career Academy into only the second public school ESPORTS venue in the state of Georgia. Pennant Construction Management was picked to take on this highly-visible task which gave the local school system a major audience in the realm of ESPORTS, Engineering and Technology while constructing what is believed to be the largest public school ESPORTS Venue in the country.

The first step of the project was to peel back the ceiling and raise the overall height of the venue. This included new HVAC and electrical systems/lighting to transform the atmosphere of the arena. Once the scaffolding was removed, new flooring on the stage and in the audience was installed. Sound panels, railing and cabinetry were then put into place before paint and signage completed the venue.

Within its first year, the arena hosted the Georgia High School Athletic Association’s (GHSA) ESPORTS Championships. Athletes from all around the state competed at the local venue inside Bartow County.

Right across the hall from the ESPORTS arena and included within the project, Pennant Construction also turned an old wrestling room into an Engineering and Technology Lab. The lab received new walls, flooring, paint, HVAC and electrical systems. It serves as the site of multiple classes each day for the Bartow County College and Career Academy.
