Broad Industrial Street Loft

Project Overview

Constructed as a retail building in the late 1800’s, the western bookend to Rome’s historic set with minimal improvements over the past half century. Hired to work with the owner and a local architect, Pennant Construction Management started with a structural overhaul to support new improvement followed by a new interior configuration and the installation of new electrical and mechanical systems. With the owners seeking an industrial look to the second level residence, existing wood ceilings and post, and the original exposed masonry walls were married with a series of steel members including a massive winding metal staircase which extends into a newly installed clerestory. The clerestory and upper roof top deck overlook the Oostanaula River. Soon after completion, the loft sold for a Rome Downtown record $3.3 million.
