Joe Cowan Park

Project Overview

In 2011, Pennant Construction Management Inc was contracted to work with civil and architectural design teams to develop the final concept and oversee construction of the City of Euharlee’s flagship park. Constructed on a former farm adjacent to city hall, mass grading was undertaken and the infrastructure installed to support a recreational facility containing four baseball/softball fields, five soccer fields, three tennis courts, two basketball courts, a one-mile walking trail connected to an exterior trail system, playgrounds, indoor batting facility, concession stands, restroom buildings, park maintenance building, a new city public works building, a pond with fountain, greenspace and multiple parking lots. A pump station was installed in the nearby Euharlee Creek to supply water to the pond which serves as both detention and a holding station for water which is used to irrigate the park. The project’s final expense came in over two million dollars below initial projections. The facility now not only supports the recreational interest of the city’s residents, but also draws thousands of guess a year to the Euharlee area through baseball, softball and soccer tournaments.
